Grant Nicholas songwriter and frontman of the phenomenally successful UK rock band Feeder releases his first solo material this August via Popping Candy. “Yorktown Heights” was produced, written and played by Grant in his North London Treehouse Studio, The Crypt (London) and Angelic Studios in Banbury. Help at the controls came from Sam Miller & Brian Sperber (Julian Casablancas, Dinasaur Jr) at his Tiny Pocket Studio in Yorktown Heights, upstate New York . As Nicholas comments “…I felt it was time to bare my soul and let people hear my songs in a more acoustic way. I grew up listening to a lot of acoustic based artists from the 60’s and 70’s and I really wanted to make an album that touched on what I loved about the honesty and warmth of those records. Made up of 13 tracks (with the Deluxe version being 15 tracks), the album is a beautifully crafted, insightful set of tracks that underline Nicholas’s deft songwriting abilities. The first taster from the album is the poignant album opener ‘Soul Mates’, which will receive its worldwide exclusive on 31st May. The track will be made available for a limited free download from Grant’s Facebook at the same time. Nicholas’ career with Feeder thus far has spanned 20 years and 11 albums, with 8 gold and platinum albums and over 3 million album sales.
