Austrian Jazz Duo active from 1975–1985. For live concerts the duo frequently expanded to include a drummer and/or bass player.
I should think that Jazzzwio is a word game of Jazzduo and the German word zwei = 2, in some dialects zwie.

From Amazon:
Where to, quite simple, categorise this music? Should one place its originators "in the blackest section of New York", as Gunter Baumann once did in the magazine Vox? Or should one be inspired and see them instead in an environment where there is the wine pub cithara and the dulcimer, as Joachim-Ernst Berendt himself tended to in 1982 in Jazzpodium? Where to with these unmistakable sounds full of character that sprung from one of the most intense duo relationships of Austrian, perhaps even European Jazz between 1977 and 1985, the tandem of a guitarist and a vibraphonist, an earthy Viennese and a coarse Tyrolean, of Harry Pepl (1945 - 2005) and Werner Pirchner (1940 - 2001)?
Where to go with the JazzZwio, that gave its last concert on October, 1985? Where to with this extraordinary music, and not just because of its unorthodox guitar-vibraphone combination? Where to with those virtuose, at times roughly clefted sound cascades that can abruptly free a glimpse for lyrical, introspective moments of feeling?
In fact, the answer is easy: one hasn't heard music like that of Harry Pepl and Werner Pirchner's since then, neither on this nor on the other side of the Atlantic. The JazzZwio, this congenial partnership of two originals, was and remains a category unto itself.
