Raised in England during the most creative time in music, Dave was there when major names in all genres were exploding on the scene. The Beatles, Eric Clapton, The Stones, Elton John, Fairport Convention, Roy Harper and many, many more. But he was also influenced by the American greats…Bob Dylan, The Grateful Dead, Jackson Browne…and the Canadian master Leonard Cohen. Dave would eventually leave the shores of his native land to live in Asia, New York City, San Francisco, and Santa Fe - soon to continue his travels to Portland, Oregon. Along this fascinating road he picked up more influences but, more importantly, labored for years on developing a style of writing and performing that is uniquely his own. Through successive albums…Raised In Vain, Beneath A Flagless Moon, JanuaryRising and now his latest, The Story Of It All, Dave has honed his skills to an impressive level. A natural way with words has evolved into that rare talent of making the personal seem universal, of making the deepest thoughts accessible and manageable. Musically Dave bridges everything from acoustic music to rock, again with elements of various styles being combined in refreshing and different combinations. His songs have routinely attracted some of the finest musicians around…allowing Dave's musical vision to be brought to life in the most satisfying ways. These players understand all of Dave's musical references but respect his own sound. As one ad for his latest CD says, this album is…12 songs, 4 years in the making, a lifetime in the writing.
