his is the bands 11th composition and as always the Kingpins are constantly trying to bring new and innovative sounds to the Louisiana Based Party scene. This composition includes several different Genres of music that have influenced us to start playing music and has blended into one KINGPIN genre that is very hard to describe and/or compare to.
The band has performed for hundreds of thousands of people in it's 11 year run and continues their fun filled / high energy performances.
The original tracks range in style from tracks such as:
"Butterflies" which is a fun song talking about feelings for a girl and that first feeling of love giving you the feeling you can/t explain and often referred to as Butterflies.
"Devils Cut" which has haunting fiddle sound and is basically about the whiskey brewing process (Devils Cut/Angels Share) Angels share is the part that evaporates from whiskey barrel in aging process where as the Devils Cut is the whiskey that remains inside the wood and can be extracted and is referred to as "Devils Cut".
"Drinking Moonshine" which is common to the bands party crowd and live shows and something we are around quite often and decided to write a fun song about drinking a little too much :-) It features an old 1952 Martin Guitar played by Travis Matte in the style of mixing bluegrass and old style Cajun Steel guitar playing sound and features accordion at the end.
"Bye Felicia" is just a fun saying we hear quite often and found it fun to write about and get a few laughs. The term basically means "the relationship is over" in this case or simply means "I am done with you".
You will also find two fun covers "Run around Sue" and the Elvis Presley classic "Jailhouse Rock" which are done Kingpin style as well. The band tends to enjoy playing older 50's and 60's songs on live performances and these are two favorites.
The tune "61" was written in perspective to an aging or old school guy who sees young guys talking smack and wishes he could go back one time to his younger days and give them a good whipping!ha
"Get Rich" is everyone's dream song…to simply get rich, quit work and live the life of luxury….big house, boat, jet plane, etc.
"I ain't gonna drink no more" is just written after everyone saying it every time they get waisted and swear that they will never drink again but next night/weekend they are back at it.
"Did you ever love me" has a sort of rock flavor to it and questions a broken relationship begging the question did you ever love me at all?
"I like me some of you" is a fun take on a local Cajun saying "I like me some of you". Term can be used in Cajun Food…"I like me some of that (summa dat) :-)
"She just wants to be wanted" was written in perspective of a woman who gets all the luxury things in a relationship and all she wants is his love and to simply be wanted and not the things money can buy.
"He don't know you like I do" is written in perspective of an affair and the other guy is telling the girl he doesn't know the sides of you that I do, he doesn't see the tears you cry, the pain inside with ending line he doesn't know you anymore…I wonder if he ever did at all.
You will also find a funky feel to the tune "Let's Ride" featuring bass from Kevin Stelly and Guitar of Kevin Cormier. Jerry Killmer is featured on keys and Bryson Simoneaux on Drums which is the oldest member of the Kingpins and originally started with Travis Matte. The two were playing in a country band and cajun band which included Simoneaux on Drums and Matte in fiddle.
The studio work was all done at Travis Matte's studio in Scott, La (Kingpin Studios). Tracking, mixing, mastering and all pre and post production done at Kingpin Studios.
Most of the tracks are as the band played it together live in studio and some tunes are one take. Previously we have done parts separately and missed the vibes of early days recording as a full band and I think this record proved it has a different feel and vibe.
As always we hope you guys enjoy the music that we put our heart and soul into and thanks for supporting the band by purchasing the music and for continuing to support at our live shows.
